Katelyn Wilson, LVN - Assistant Administrator

I am a Bay Area native, born in Hayward, where I would continue to spend most weekends even after moving to the East Bay. I spent most of my childhood in Antioch, where I currently live with my Husband and children. I studied Nutrition and Healthcare Administration at Los Medanos College and then Nursing at Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts.

I started my nursing career in 2013 after the birth of my first son. I worked as an in-home caregiver while studying for my board exams. Shortly after graduating from nursing school, I became a care aid in a large assisted living facility. I was fortunate enough to be offered a nursing position at the facility as soon as I received my license. I worked there as a wellness nurse for a number of years and discovered my passion for working with the elderly.

After gaining my experience as a supervisor I took my first management role as Wellness Director to a local memory care facility. This is where I truly gained my love for working with those with memory impairment.

In 2019 I joined the Heatherwood family as Resident Care Director. As Resident Care Director it was my responsibility to oversee the overall health and well-being of the residents. Every day is a new day when working with those that have memory impairment, and there is never a dull moment. In 2020 I decided to further my education and I took a course to become a licensed administrator. As of 2022, I have accepted the title of Assistant Administer, absorbing my previous duties into the position.

When I am asked why I chose Heatherwood over working anywhere else; it is that here the residents and staff truly feel like family. That is what I want families to feel when their loved one lives with us, that they are in a home-like environment with the quality care that you would expect from specialized memory care.
