Helen McCauley - Activities Director
I have always had a passion for caring and giving from a young age. I was once told that in this life you have done nothing until you touch the lives of others in need. That saying stuck with me and continues to lead me through life.
I have spent over forty years of my career working in all aspects of senior care. Over my career I have worked extensively as a caregiver at a board and care facility, as a Certified Nursing Assistant in a skilled nursing facility of over 200 beds and spent approximately 15 years with Contra Costa County as an Aid dealing with the mentally challenged. I ultimately found my home with Heatherwood in 2002.
My role as an activities coordinator is to develop, plan, organize and direct a program to meet the needs of our residents living with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Our program combines aspects of the physical, social, educational and spiritual needs of our residents. Although most of our activities are group-based, I spend one-on-one time with each and every resident to provide them with the individual attention and expression that they need.
